Feb. 9 to Feb. 15

Gila River Police officers responded to 680 calls for service and made 39 arrests.

District One- (Blackwater)

Aggravated Assault – Suspect(s) discharged a firearm at the victim while he was walking home through an open field. A bullet struck the victim as he fled the area. Once home a relative drove the victim to a local hospital for further treatment of his non-life-threatening injury. Hospital staff notified law enforcement and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: Under investigation

District Two – (Sacaton Flats)

No Part 1 incidents

District Three- (Sacaton)

Aggravated Assault – The suspect forced entry into the victim’s residence through the front door and physically assaulted the victim with a baseball bat. Law enforcement was notified and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

Status: Under investigation

Aggravated Assault – The suspect and victim were involved in a verbal domestic dispute when it escalated and became physical. The suspect struck the victim with a broom and then attempted to stab her with a pair of scissors. Law enforcement was notified and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident. The suspect fled the area prior to officers’ arrival. Gila River Emergency Services responded to treat the victims’ non-life-threatening injuries. The victim refused further medical treatment.

Status: Charges forwarded to the tribal prosecutor’s office for further review.

Burglary – Suspect(s) forced entry through the side window of the victim’s residence. Multiple items, belonging to the victim, were stolen from within the residence. The victim arrived home to find his home had been burglarized and notified law enforcement. Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: Under investigation

Theft – Suspect(s) stole mail belonging to the victim from his post office box containing checks. The suspect(s) then proceeded to fraudulently cash the checks without the victim’s knowledge or consent. Law enforcement was notified and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: Under investigation

Theft – The suspect took the victim’s Sim card from her cellular phone, while it was in his possession, without the victim’s consent or knowledge. Law enforcement was notified and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: Charges forwarded to the tribal prosecutor’s office for further review.

District Four-

Stotonic Area –

Aggravated Assault – The suspect waved a knife at and followed the victims while they walked home attempting to cause a confrontation. The victims ran to a residence nearby and asked to use their phone. Law enforcement was notified, and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident. The suspect fled prior to officers’ arrival.

Status: Under investigation

Aggravated Assault – The suspect and victim were involved in a verbal domestic dispute that escalated and became physical when the suspect placed her hands around the victim’s throat and strangled her. Law enforcement was notified, and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: The suspect was located and arrested.

Lone Butte Area

Shoplifting – Suspect(s) entered the outlet store, concealed merchandise on their person, and then fled the premises without paying for the items. Employees notified law enforcement and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: Under investigation

Theft – Suspect(s) committed theft against the victim by unlawfully taking his license plate from his Hyundai Genesis. Law enforcement was notified, and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: Under investigation

Theft – The suspect picked up the victim’s cellular phone from a slot machine, failed to submit it to casino security for lost and found, and left the premises permanently depriving the victim of their property. Casino security notified law enforcement, and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: Under investigation

Theft – The suspect took a TITO ticket belonging to the victim, cashed it in, and left the casino with the cash. Casino security notified law enforcement, and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident. The suspect was located and detained by security until officers arrived.

Status: The suspect was issued a criminal citation and released off property.

District Five – (Casa Blanca)

Aggravated Assault – Suspect and victim were involved in a verbal domestic altercation that escalated and became physical. The suspect grabbed a knife and made a gesture with the knife indicating the suspect would stab the victim. Law enforcement was notified, and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: The suspect was located and arrested.

District Six – (Komatke)

Theft – Suspect(s) stole a bicycle owned by the victim, while at the casino, and proceeded to leave the premises. Casino security notified law enforcement, and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: Under investigation

Theft – The suspect stole money from the victim while at their shared residence. The victim notified law enforcement and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: The money was returned and the victim refused to aid in prosecution.

Theft – Suspect(s) stole a debit card owned by the victim, while at the casino, and proceeded to leave the premises. The victim was alerted by her bank of fraudulent activity and security was advised. Casino security notified law enforcement, and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: Under investigation

Theft – Suspect(s) stole the victim’s cell phone from the victim’s residence. The property has not been returned back to the victim. Law enforcement was notified, and Gila River police officers responded to investigate the incident.

Status: Under investigation
