PHOENIX, Ariz. — Governor Katie Hobbs delivered her third Tribal State of the State Address to Tribal leaders and representatives at the Inter Tribal Association of Arizona’s annual Tribal leaders’ breakfast on January 14, 2026. Governor Hobbs highlighted major accomplishments of the past year and outlined her plan to lower costs, protect Arizona’s water, make data centers pay their fair share, and invest in hardworking Arizonans.
“Last year, I made a promise to Arizonans … the Arizona Promise. It represented the compact our state has always made to its citizens — that we would be a bastion of security, opportunity, and freedom for whoever is willing to come here, work hard, and make a good life for themselves and their families. Since day one of my administration, I have made it a priority to actively engage with Tribal leaders to ensure that this promise reaches every Arizonan, from Somerton to Supai and Kayenta to Bylas and everywhere in between.” — Governor Katie Hobbs
Major achievements Governor Hobbs outlined in her address include:
Expanded access to traditional healing in Medicaid
Established itinerant offices in Tribal communities so that veterans can access claims support, benefits guidance, and program information
Allocated millions of dollars of State Housing Trust Funds to build affordable housing on Tribal lands
Launched the Turquoise Alert to help law enforcement and the public respond when vulnerable individuals go missing
Increased grant funding for Tribal law enforcement agencies, emergency medical services, and health departments by 30 percent
