The GRIC Market, the long-time store located in Sacaton, closed its doors for the final time on Jan. 27.

Gila River Development (GRD) announced the closure on the same day, with GRD thanking their valued customers on their Gila Gas & Goods Facebook page.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our loyal customers who have supported us throughout our time at GRIC Market,” read the statement.

According to the statement, the closure of the store will allow Women, Infants & Children Program (WIC) services to be transferred to the Sacaton Market, which fully opened on Oct. 23, 2025.

It was also announced that the Sacaton Market now accepts Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT), the card system Arizona uses to distribute benefits for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

“In preparation for moving WIC services to the new Sacaton Market, and as we work through the final stages of activating WIC, we must first discontinue operations at GRIC Market.”

With SNAP now available at the Sacaton Market, GRD said that WIC will soon be available at the store as well.

Loyal customers and former employees commented on the post recalling fond memories of the store as a staple in Sacaton with many saying how “sad” they were to see it go.

“Thank you once again for supporting our market, and we look forward to seeing you at Sacaton Market, where we are committed to serving our Community,” said the statement.
