SkyBridge Arizona Breaks Ground for Wingate Hawthorn Hotel at Mesa Gateway Airport

MESA, Ariz. — SkyBridge Arizona breaks ground for dual brand Wingate Hawthorn hotel at Mesa Gateway Airport on April 13. The hotel by Wyndham will be in proximity of the airport terminal along Sossaman Road.

 

The Mesa Gateway Airport Authority (MGAA) consisting of  Apache Junction, Mesa, Queen Creek, and the Gila River Indian Community. Lt. Gov. Regina Antone is the chairwoman, and Mark Freeman is the vice chairman, for the MGAA.

 

The SkyBridge groundbreaking speakers include Lt. Gov. Antone, Mayor Freeman, Hennie van Niekirk (Preconstruction Manager at Alston Construction), Alan Picker (Vice President of New Development at PeakAir Development), and Ariel Picker (President of PeakAir Developments). 

 

In her remark, Lt. Gov. Antone said, “The Mesa Airport Authority Board is proud to stand with you today. The economic impact is significant. It will create over 250 construction jobs and 110 operation jobs.”

 

“I like heavy equipment, I like dirt, and I like groundbreaking because it shows the future of what will happen here in our community,” Mayor Freeman said.

 

The dual brand Wingate Hawthorn hotel will have 129 rooms, gym, pool, meeting spaces and ample parking. Airport shuttle will be available. The property will sit on 350 acres near the intersection of Sossaman and Pecos. 

 

“Projects like this don’t began with construction. They began with a vision. A vision to create something beyond a single asset,” said VP Picker.

 

“An airport is like a vineyard. You plant a seed, it starts growing. It takes time. This airport will blossom,” said President Picker.
