Incident Log August 19, 2018 – August 25, 2018

Gila River Police officers responded to 607 calls for service and made 54 arrests.

 

District One:

No incidents regarding Part 1 crime.

 

District Two: 

No incidents regarding Part 1 crime.

 

District Three:

Aggravated Assault – Suspect(s) fired a shotgun at the victim while he was standing in the front yard of his residence and then fled prior to police arrival. A third uninvolved party contacted law enforcement who responded. Officers arrived on scene and applied first aid while medics were en route. The victim was treated by Gila River Emergency Medical Services and transported to a local trauma hospital. 

Status: Under investigation

 

Aggravated Assault - The suspect drove into the front yard of the victim’s residence and confronted the victim about a previous dog bite incident. The suspect then pointed a pistol at the victim and later discharged it towards the victim’s feet. The projectile ricocheted off the ground and struck the victim on the outside of his left foot. The victim sustained a non life threatening injury and refused to be transported by the Gila River Emergency Medical Services.

Status: Under investigation. 

 

Aggravated Assault – The suspect and the victim were involved in a domestic dispute which escalated to a physical altercation. The suspect struck the victim in her mouth with his fist and then proceeded to strangle her. The victim was assessed and transported by Gila River Emergency Medical Services and transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. 

Status: Suspect was arrested and booked into DRS.

 

Burglary – Suspect(s) forced entry into a vendor stand by tearing down a board on the side of the structure. The victim was made aware of the burglary by neighboring vendor. Police was notified and responded to the scene.

Status: Under investigation

Theft - Suspect(s) walked onto the victim’s property and stole an Arizona license plate belonging to a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. The plate was entered into the national crime information database as stolen.

Status: Under investigation

 

District Four:

(Stotonic Area)

No incidents regarding Part 1 crime.

 

 (Lone Butte / WHP Area) 

Theft – Suspects entered a store at the Phoenix Premium Outlets and removed merchandise without paying for it. 

Status: Under investigation

 

District Five:

Burglary – A suspect was witnessed removing an A/C unit from an abandoned residence. Police was contacted and the A/C unit was located and recovered. The suspect was gone upon police arrival.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Homicide – The suspect fired one round striking the victim. Officers responded and CPR was conducted on the victim. Gila River Emergency Services arrived on scene and advised the victim had no pulse. Suspect was booked into the Gila River department of rehabilitation center and supervision.

Status: Suspect was arrested and booked into DRS.

 

District Six:

Motor Vehicle Theft – The suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and drove away without permission from the Vee Quiva Hotel and Casino. Security captured the incident on surveillance footage. The victim also stated there were tools inside of the truck at the time of the theft.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Theft – The suspect drove his truck to the rear of the Vee Quiva Casino and loaded a trash can into the bed of his truck before leaving the premises. The incident was captured on surveillance footage.

Status: Charges forwarded to the Maricopa County Attorney’s office for theft.

 

District Seven:

Aggravated Assault - The suspect struck the victim on their forehead with a sword after a verbal argument escalated. After a struggle the victim was able to remove the sword from the suspect but suffered small lacerations to their forearm from the serrations on the sword.

Status: Suspect was arrested and booked into DRS.

 

Aggravated Assault - Suspect(s) walked in front of the victim’s vehicle, pulled a handgun out, and pointed it at the victim. The suspect(s) made threats to use the weapon against the victim but then fled on foot instead. The victim called and reported the incident to law enforcement after he arrived home.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Burglary - Suspect(s) forcefully entered an unoccupied residential structure that is in the process of being built. The suspect (s) entered the construction site through an unsecured fence removing cable wire and electrical wiring. The burglary was noted when the construction project manager arrived in the morning.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Incident Log August 26 – September 01, 2018

District One (Blackwater):

Aggravated Assault – The suspect and victim were walking in the desert area when a verbal altercation ensued which escalated to a physical altercation. The suspect bite the victim’s left ear, removing a small section of the upper ear. The victim was transported to the hospital for further medical treatment and the suspect was taken into custody. 

Status: Suspect was booked into jail

 

District Two (Sacaton Flats): 

No Incidents Involving Part 1 Crime

 

District Three (Sacaton):

Auto Theft – Officers responded to a residence in reference to an auto theft. The victim stated that during the night the vehicle was taken without permission and was unsure who would have done it. A stolen affidavit was filled out and the vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen. A neighbor stated they heard the vehicle leave around 0130 or 0200 hours but thought it was the victim. 

Status: Under Investigation

 

District Four (Stotonic Area):

Aggravated Assault – The reporting party stated while riding in a medical transport van the victim was assaulted by the drivers boyfriend. The victim was hit in the face with a closed fist and was then dropped off in the area of State Route 87 and Gilbert Rd. The victim requested officers to Chandler Regional where the victim received stitches. 

Status:  Under Investigation

 

Aggravated Assault – Officers were dispatched to a residence in reference to a domestic altercation. Upon officer arrival the investigation revealed the suspect physically assaulted the victim while in their bedroom. The victim stated the suspect pushed the victim to the ground face down and began strangling the victim with his forearms around her neck. The victim stated the altercation occurred over a couple of hours. The suspect was placed under arrest. 

Status: Suspect was booked into jail

 

Aggravated Assault – Officers were dispatched to a domestic call advising a couple was fighting and one had a gun. Contact was made with the victim who stated that that the suspect engaged in a verbal argument with the victim that escalated into a physical altercation. During the altercation the suspect displayed and pointed a gun at the victim stating, “I should just shoot you and end this right now”. The suspect then struck the victim with the gun on the shoulder causing injury.  

Status: Under Investigation

 

District Four (Lone Butte Area): 

Theft (Shoplifting) – Officers were dispatched to a store at the Phoenix Premium Outlet. Contact was made with a store associate who stated two individuals were in the store and were greeted and asked if there was anything they needed help with. The female suspect stated she was looking for leggings. She was pointed in the direction and the store associate walked away. The store sensor beeped but security was not notified. In reviewing the surveillance the female was observed hiding legging in her bag and then leaving the store without paying for the items. 

Status: Under Investigation

 

Theft – Officers were dispatched to the Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino reference a theft of a ticket voucher. Investigation revealed the suspect removed a ticket voucher from a slot machine belonging to the victim. The suspect was located and admitted to his actions, and was then booked into DRS. 

Status:  Suspect was arrested and booked into jail

 

District Five (Casa Blanca):

Auto Theft – Officers were dispatched the victim’s residence in reference to an auto theft. Contact was made with the victim who stated the suspect took the victims vehicle without permission. A stolen affidavit was filled out and entered into NCIC. The suspect was not located during a search of the vehicle in the area. 

Status: Under Investigation

 

District Six (Komatke):

Auto Theft – Officers were advised by dispatch the victim was wishing to report her vehicle stolen. Further investigation revealed the victim was not currently on the Gila River Indian Community but was en-route. The victim stated that her vehicle was stolen sometime last week from the residence it had been sitting at. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen.

District Seven (Maricopa):

Incident Log August 19, 2018 – August 25, 2018

District One:

Theft – Suspect(s) removed the license plate from a White Ford Expedition that was parked in front of the victim’s mother’s residence. The license plate was later recovered by Border Patrol.

Status: Under investigation.

 

District Two: 

Aggravated Assault – The suspect and victim were involved in a physical altercation which turned physical. The suspect attempted to strangle the victim and then struck them with a shovel. The victim was assessed and transported to a local trauma hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Status: Under Investigation

 

District Three:

Aggravated Assault – The suspect struck three pedestrians with their vehicle and then fled the scene of the accident. Bystanders contacted law enforcement and rendered first aid until Emergency Medical Services could arrive. All three victims were transported to a local trauma hospital for further medical care. Gila River Police Officers located and made contacted with the suspect.

Status: Suspect was arrested and booked into jail.

 

Aggravated Assault – The suspect and victim were involved in a domestic dispute that became physical. The suspect strangled the victim and struck her in the back of the head with a closed fist. Law enforcement was notified and the suspect was detained upon their arrival. The victim refused medical attention and the suspect was arrested.

Status:  Suspect was arrested and booked into jail.

 

District Four (Stotonic Area):

Burglary – Suspect(s) broke into the victim’s residence by damaging a security door and then stole multiple items. The victim stated they had been away from the residence for approximately 4 hours and found the door to their residence open upon their return.

Status: Under investigation

 

District Four (Lone Butte / WHP Area): 

Shoplifting – Suspect(s) entered a store, located inside the Phoenix Premium Outlets, and stole various items. This was a delayed reporting as the incident had actually occurred approximately 2 weeks prior.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Shoplifting – The suspect entered the Lone Butte Chevron, concealed merchandise under their arm and left the store without paying. The incident was captured on the store’s security video surveillance and is currently being followed up on.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Theft – Suspect(s) siphoned and stole diesel fuel from a semi-truck while it was parked in the Wild Horse Pass parking lot.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Shoplifting – Suspect(s) entered a store, located inside Phoenix Premium Outlets, and took pairs of sunglasses. The suspect concealed them inside of a black shopping bag and left the store without paying for the merchandise. The incident was captured on the store’s security video surveillance and is being followed up on.

Status: Under investigation.

 

District Five:

Aggravated Assault - The suspect and victim were involved in a domestic dispute that became physical. The suspect strangled the victim and prevented her from leaving the residence. Once the victim was able to leave they notify law enforcement. The victim refused medical attention but the suspect was taken into custody.

Status:  Suspect was arrested and booked into jail.

 

Theft - Suspect(s) removed the license plate from a vehicle that was parked in front of the victim’s residence. The license plate was entered into the national database as stolen.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Theft – The suspect located the victim’s wallet on the ground inside the Casa Blanca Store where the victim had unknowingly dropped it. The suspect proceeded to purchase items with the money inside the wallet and then left the premises. The incident was captured on the store’s security video surveillance and the suspect was identified.

Status: The juvenile suspect was arrested and booked into jail

Incident Log

September 9 – 15, 2018

Calls for services this week:  607, Arrest made: 70

 

District One (Blackwater):

Auto Theft– The suspect and driver of the vehicle were at a residence in District One. The suspect advised the driver he was going to the bank in the victim’s vehicle and would be right back. The vehicle was never returned to the driver and the vehicle was reported stolen. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen. 

Status: Vehicle was located by Casa Grande Police Department

 

Theft (Shoplifting) – A male subject stole merchandise from the Uhs Kehk Store. The suspect was not identified but the store would be contacting the other employees to identify the suspect. The morning supervisor would be able to gather video surveillance and would notify PD when it is ready for pick up.

Status: Under Investigation

 

Weapon – The bus monitor observed two students with razor blades on the bus. They advised the students were giving the blades to another student who they know to be a person who had self harmed in the past. The bus monitor confiscated the razor blades and the parents were all contacted.

District Two (Sacaton Flats):

District Three (Sacaton):

Aggravated Assault – Officers responded to a residence in reference to people who were not allowing a subject to leave a residence. The reporting party called back and advised subjects were now fighting at the neighbor’s residence. A female victim was located who was bleeding profusely from the neck and stated she was hit with a bat. Other victims were identified and taken to various hospitals for further medical treatment for their injuries. 

Status: Under Investigation

 

Theft– Officers were dispatched to a residence in District Three reference to a stolen license plate. Contact was made with the victim who stated the license plate to her vehicle had been stolen. The victim only knew her plate was stolen after being stopped by Arizona Department of Public Safety for no license plate.

District Four (Stotonic Area):

No Incidents Involving Part 1 Crime

 

District Four (Lone Butte Area): 

Auto Theft – Lone Butte Casino Security called to report an auto theft for one of their patrons. Upon further investigation, it was discovered the victim arrived at the casino with his friend, the suspect. Approximately a half an hour later the suspect left in the victim’s vehicle. The victim stated he never gave permission to the suspect to take his vehicle. A stolen vehicle affidavit was filled out and the vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen.

Status:  Vehicle was located by owner, charges still being requested.

 

Theft (Shoplifting) – Officers were dispatched to a store in the Phoenix Premium Outlet reference to shoplifting. The investigation revealed a male subject stole items from the store when they walked past the point of sale without purchasing. The items were later recovered by security but the male subject was not located. 

Status:  Under Investigation

 

District Five (Casa Blanca):

Aggravated Assault – The suspect committed aggravated assault by pointing a black air soft gun at the face of a family member. The victim, believed the handgun to be real and felt their life was in danger. The suspect fled the scene prior to officer arrival and the weapon was located near the last known location of the suspect. The suspect was contacted the next day and was booked into DRS. 

Status: Suspect was arrested

 

Weapon– Officers were dispatched to Casa Blanca Middle School in reference to a weapon on school grounds. Contact was made with the school counselor who stated the suspect had a knife in his possession. It is against school policy to have any edged weapons while on the premises. Officers were informed this was the third incident involving the suspect bringing this type of item to school. 

Status: Charges forwarded

 

Weapon– Officers were dispatched to the Sacate Housing in reference to shots fired. Upon officer arrival a male was located in the alley running with a shotgun in his hands. The suspect was later apprehended in the desert area and while in possession of the firearm, live ammunition, and 4.9 grams of marijuana. All items were seized and booked into evidence. The suspect was booked into DRS on weapon and drug charges. 

Status: Suspect was arrested and booked into jail

 

District Six (Komatke):

Aggravated Assault – The victim called police and reported while she was at the home of her boyfriend they engaged in a verbal altercation. As the altercation became physical the suspect placed the stock of an AR 15 in the middle of her chest and pushed it into her body. The victim reported the suspect also struck the victim in the right upper arm with a hand held taser and electrocuted her skin. 

Status: Under Investigation

 

Aggravated Assault – The victim was taken to Banner University for medical treatment after the victim was assaulted by unknown suspects. The victim only stated they were “jumped up the way” from their residence. The victim’s facial area was significantly swollen, with a long laceration which required stitches.

Status: Under Investigation

 

Auto Theft – The suspect took a vehicle belonging to the victim without permission while at the Vee Quiva Casino. During the morning hours while the victim was in the shower the suspect took the victim’s car without permission. Upon getting out of the shower the driver found a note stating the suspect left to get money and would promise to return. The driver did not locate the vehicle on casino grounds and alerted security as well as the registered owner. 

Status: Under Investigation

 

Theft (Shoplifting) – The suspect grabbed merchandise from the shelves and proceeded to walk out of the store without paying. A staff worker was walking into the store at the time of the juvenile walking out and grabbed the juvenile, detaining him. Officers arrived on scene and took custody of the juvenile, who also had a valid warrant out of Maricopa County. The juvenile male was booked into JDRS. During the altercation the staff was hit in the face by the suspect, but declined to press charges. 

Status: Suspect arrested and booked into jail.

 

Theft– Officers were dispatched to a residential area for a report of a theft. Upon the officer’s arrival contact was made with housing security who stated an A/C unit had been stripped.  The suspect committed theft and criminal damage by removing and taking the various components and parts of the a/c unit. Evidence was collected on scene and officers are conducting follow up.

District Seven (Maricopa):

Weapon– Officers were dispatched to the area in reference to shots fired. No vehicles or suspects were located. Eleven spent rounds were located and entered into evidence which will be sent to AZ DPS for fingerprint analysis.

Incident Log September 16, 2018 – September 22, 2018

Gila River Police officers responded to 595 calls for service and made 87 arrests.

 

District One:

Shoplifting – The suspect entered the District 1 Shell Gas Station, took merchandise from the shelves, and then walked out of the store without paying. The reporting party stated the suspect first attempted to open the refrigerator that houses the alcoholic beverages but the doors were locked. Officers located the suspect and a second subject in the desert area.

Status: Suspect was arrested for shoplifting.

 

District Two: 

No incidents regarding Part 1 crime.

 

District Three:

Aggravated Assault – The suspect and victim were involved in a verbal altercation at a residence during a party. The suspect followed and assaulted the victim while she was walking home by striking her in the face with his hands and feet. The victim was able to walk herself to the Huhukam Memorial Hospital where she received medical attention and was transported to a local hospital for further medical treatment. Hospital staff notified law enforcement and officers were dispatched to the hospital.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Aggravated Assault – The suspect entered the victim’s residence without permission. When asked to leave the suspect refused and attempted to stab both victims with a kitchen knife. Other occupants inside the residence reported being awoken by the suspect’s disruptive behavior. The suspect fled the residence prior to police arrival, but was located in the area.

Status: Suspect was arrested and booked into DRS.

 

District Four:

(Stotonic Area)

Aggravated Assault – The suspect struck the victim on the head with an object causing a 1 inch laceration. The victim was transported to a local trauma hospital for further medical treatment.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Burglary – Suspect(s) forced entry into the victim’s residence and stole money along with various personal items. The victim stated he was gone for approximately two hours from his residence in the early evening.

Status: Under investigation.

 

 (Lone Butte / WHP Area) 

Auto Theft – Suspect(s) committed the offense of theft of means of transportation at the Wild Horse Pass Casino after they located the victim’s keys unattended on a blackjack chair. The suspect(s) proceeded to walk around the parking lot until they located the victim’s vehicle, at which time the female suspect got into the vehicle and drove off. The security surveillance footage was provided to law enforcement and submitted as evidence.

Status: Under Investigation.

 

Theft – Suspect(s) committed theft at the Loves Truck Stop after they broke into the victim’s semi truck and stole various personal items. The victim stated the passenger-side window had been left partially open. 

Status: Under investigation.

 

Shoplifting – The suspect entered a store, located inside the Phoenix Premium Outlets, grabs a Nike box with shoes inside. The suspect concealed them inside a bag and exits the store without paying for the merchandise. The incident was discovered as the store manager was reviewing surveillance footage.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Shoplifting - The suspect entered a store, located inside the Phoenix Premium Outlets, grabbed two pairs of jeans, and entered a fitting room. The suspect then exits the store without paying for the merchandise which had been concealed. The incident was discovered as the store manager was reviewing surveillance footage.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Shoplifting - The suspect entered a store, located inside the Phoenix Premium Outlets, and took a pair of black in color women’s tennis shoes without paying. The suspect was gone upon police arrival.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Theft - The suspect entered the victim’s hotel room without her permission and stole a bag. Upon further investigation the purse was recovered in the hotel lobby intact. The suspect left the premises prior to police arrival.

Status: Under investigation.

 

District Five:

Aggravated Assault – The suspect and victim were involved in a verbal domestic dispute when it became physical. Law enforcement was contacted by the victim just prior to the physical altercation regarding the suspect taking a tablet from her and refusing to return it. The victim stated she was strangled by the suspect during the course of the fight. Gila River Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital for further medical treatment.

Status: Suspect was arrested and booked into jail.

 

Theft – The suspect(s) entered the victim’s residence with her permission. Once they had left the victim noticed the suspects had removed and taken two cardboard boxes containing various personal items from the victim’s garage. 

Status: Under investigation.

 

District Six:

Aggravated Assault – The suspect struck the victim several times with his fists and a wooden back scratcher. Upon the officer’s arrival the suspect prevented the victim from answering the front door and kept her confined to the bedroom. Officers could hear the victim yelling and were forced to enter the residence through the front door. The suspect was apprehended without further incident.

Status: Suspect was arrested and booked into jail. 

 

Auto Theft – The suspect entered the victim’s vehicle while it was parked in the Vee Quiva Casino Parking lot without the victims’ permission. The suspect then drove off the property with the victims vehicle.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Auto Theft - The victim’s exited their vehicle and went inside the Komatke Market store. The vehicle was left on and unlocked while they were in the store. The suspect was standing outside of the store and had observed the victim leave the car running. The suspect proceeded to enter the victim’s vehicle and drive off of the property on 51st. Ave. The vehicle was located and the suspect apprehended.

Status: Suspect was arrested and booked into jail.

 

Theft – The suspect forced entry into the victim’s vehicle, while parked in the Vee Quiva Casino parking lot, by breaking the passenger-side window. The suspect then stole the victim’s purse and cell phone from inside the vehicle. 

Status: Under investigation.

 

Burglary – Suspect(s) forced entry into the boarded up residence at an unknown time. While inside of the residence, the suspect(s) damaged the interior wall in the laundry room and removed copper pipes.

Status: Under investigation.

 

Theft – Suspect(s) walked onto the victim’s property without permission and stole a black air compressor that had been left underneath the carport. The victim was unsure who would have taken the item.

Status: Under investigation

 

District Seven:

Theft - Suspect(s) walked onto the property and took several pieces of ply wood from the residence that was being used to cover the windows. District 7 Service Center staff noticed the missing items after they returned from their lunch break. Staff was on the property cleaning out and securing the abandoned residence
