Four Southern Tribes Gather for a Cultural Resource Report

MARICOPA, Ariz. Leaders and members of the Four Southern Tribes gather Saturday, Oct 1, at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino to present their annual Cultural Resource Working Group Report and Updates. Representatives from the Ak-Chin Indian Community, Tohono O’odham Nation, Gila River Indian Community and Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community attended the meeting, which focused on cultural preservation, intertribal collaboration and youth engagement.
Youth councils from each tribe also participated, sharing updates on community initiatives, cultural education efforts and leadership development programs.
During the gathering, the Gila River Indian Community announced it will host the next round of Cultural Resource Working Group meetings in the final quarter of 2025. The meetings aim to strengthen tribal partnership and promote the protection of ancestral knowledge and traditions.
The event highlighted the commitment to cultural perseverance and unity across the Four Southern Tribes.
