St. Peter Indian Mission School Wins Aerial Drone Competition

Students from the Saint Peter Indian Mission Catholic School in District 5 - Bapchule, earned the Championship Award in the Middle school division and several other awards during an aerial drone competition held on Saturday, May 3.
With the support of the community, Saint Peter Indian Mission School partnered with Education Empowers and the Boys & Girls Clubs to host an aerial drone competition. This event brought together 16 teams from across the state, providing a platform for our students to showcase their skills and learn from others.
The competition, which showcased the unique skills of students, included three challenging categories: Drone piloting, autonomous drone coding, and communications.
The Saint Peter’s teams excelled across multiple categories, including Middle School Division Champions and Autonomous Drone Coding awards for both the high school and middle school divisions. The Judge’s Award was also presented to the St. Peters High School Division.
Ms. Kaylin Terry & Mrs. Ashton coached St. Peters High School Drone Teams and Ms. Joellen Kinnamon coached Saint Peter’s Middle School Drone Teams along with Mrs. Ashton. Ms. Kinnamon received the Honorary Coach Award.
Education Empowers Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Chandler, Arizona. Since 2017, they have partnered with GRIC community schools and the Boys & Girls Clubs to deliver year-around hands-on programs in LEGO Robotics, Drones, AI, Coding, App building, 3D print, CAD, Sustainability, Soldering, and Workforce Development summer programs.
