Community comes together for Run/Walk to recognize Sexual Assault Awareness Month

On April 1, 2026, over 60 Community Members joined in the Sexual Assault Awareness Month Run/Walk at the Sacaton Fairgrounds. Attendees heard from speakers who shared resources and information for victims of sexual assault and received t-shirts and informational pamphlets. The evening concluded with remarks from Jr. Miss Gila River, Aubrey Gaitan and members of the Gila River Community Council. The event was hosted in a collaborated effort from the Gila River Crime Victims Services, Police Department, SANE and Gila River Health Care. Photos by Apphia Shirley/CPAO
